Course Description

This is a 4-hour course that may be delivered either online or in person. Completion of INGUIDE Course 1 (Certified Guideline Panel Member) is a prerequisite. The greatest value is achieved when the entire guideline panel participates together, allowing for practical, team-based application of the concepts.

The course focuses on the following core roles and responsibilities of panel members:

  • (PICO) Question generation (Domain 8)
  • Considering the importance of outcomes and interventions, including values, preferences, and utilities (Domain 9)
  • Developing recommendations and determining their strength (Domain 13)
  • Wording recommendations and addressing considerations of implementation, feasibility, and equity (Domain 14)

Learning Objectives

During the live training, learners will:

  • Understand why and how some PICO questions are addressed, and others may not, i.e., understand the prioritization approach.
  • Appreciate how the importance of outcomes influences the balance of health effects resulting from interventions and apply the related concepts.
  • Understand the required judgments and how the evidence-to-decision criteria and context influence a recommendation.
  • Be familiar with and practice the process for reaching consensus and appropriate recommendations using the GRADEPro evidence-to-decision framework.
  • Ensure recommendations are clear, reflect the content appropriately and are actionable for the target audience.
  • Practice in providing appropriate clarifications and remarks for the recommendations.
  • Be given the opportunity to ask questions and share experiences.
